For this job we used the pressure washer at low pressure and a flat surface cleaner. For safety we accessed the top roof with scaffold tower and our power pole. Which Method to Use?

Different roofs require different cleaning approaches. We assess each roof carefully and having explained to the client, use the safest, most effective method for the surface and condition.

Manual Roof Scraping

Manual roof scraping is the most common and safest method for removing heavy moss and organic growth from roof tiles.

Using specialist tools, moss is carefully removed by hand without applying high pressure to the roof surface. This method helps protect tiles, pointing and fixings while significantly improving the appearance of the roof.

Manual scraping is ideal for:

Low-Pressure Roof Cleaning

Low-pressure roof cleaning may be used in specific situations where the roof condition and tile type allow. This method uses controlled water pressure to rinse away light growth, dirt and debris after assessment.

We do not use aggressive high-pressure washing on roofs, as this can damage tiles, strip protective coatings and force water beneath the roof surface.

Low-pressure cleaning is suitable for:

How Our Roof Cleaning Process Works

Step 1 – Roof assessment
We inspect the roof type, condition and level of moss or growth before selecting the safest cleaning method. At this stage we inform the client of any existing damage, loose tiles etc.

Step 2 – Safe cleaning method
Moss, algae and debris are carefully removed using controlled techniques designed to protect roof tiles. Our 2 choices of method are 'low' pressure washing or roof scraping. See explanation above.

Step 3 – Apply biocide
Once the roof is cleared, and regardless of the method used, we apply a biocide treatment. This keeps the roof looking great for the longest time possible.

Step 4 – Clear & tidy finish
All debris is cleared away, leaving your roof clean, tidy and visually improved. In addition, all gutters are cleared and rinsed down, along with soffits and fascias.
